Awards

ChasiDolly Partonng Rainbows Award:  The Chasing Rainbows Award is given annually by Dolly Parton to a teacher who has overcome adversity in becoming a teacher.  The awardee spends a week as the guest of Parton at Dollywood and his/her name is inscribed on a plaque inside Parton’s Chasing Rainbows Museum.  NNSTOY selects the annual recipient.

Scholarships

1. NNSTOY Family Scholarship (PDF)

The NNSTOY Family Scholarship, given to an NNSTOY member’s relative, who is, or is about to become, enrolled in college within the United States as a full-time student seeking a teaching certificate or a graduate degree in education, and who has demonstrated both ability and need.

Applications are due by March 10, 2017.

2. Kay Battista Scholarship Information and Application (PDF)

Kay is a late NNSTOY member whose family helped the organization to establish a memorial fund as part of Kay’s legacy.  The scholarship is awarded to a future teacher, enrolled full-time in a teacher preparation program in the United States.

 Applications are due by March 10, 2017.

3. John Quam Scholarship

This scholarship is given to honor Jon Quam’s persistent dedication to the State Teacher of the Year Program. We fund a $1,000 annual scholarship to help defray expenses from attending our annual national teacher leadership conference. The recipient of the Jon Quam Scholarship will be determined annually through a random drawing of conference registrants. To receive the scholarship, a member must be registered for the national conference prior to the date of the drawing. Members will be notified of the drawing (and the scholarship winner) each year.

Service

NNSTOY engages with the Chasing Rainbows Foundation to hold a series of service learning projects.  This year, the 2-day session will be held June 21 & 22 in Great Smoky Mountains National Park!  The Imagination Library is in the USA, Canada, and United Kingdom and Australia.

Also, if you are interested in performing a workshop as part of the service projects, you can submit your idea HERE. All types of workshops are encouraged, with hands-on, interactive options most popular. The due date for submissions is May 15!
