What lasting fingerprint will I leave on a profession that has touched me in such deep and abiding ways?  I think about what the state of poor and minority kids in public schools will be, long after I’m gone. Will it be permanently better?

--Josh Parker, Maryland State Teacher of the Year, 2012

Many of us think about the “lasting fingerprint” we will leave on our profession, our families, and our world. For teachers, though, that legacy is crafted each day as students come through our classrooms and leave a bit better prepared for life.

NNSTOY is dedicated to ensuring that our students have access to the best education and benefit from strong teachers who leave a lasting impact on their lives, and that education policies are developed together with teachers to reflect what is truly needed in the classroom.

As we begin a new year, I want to thank you for your support of NNSTOY and the work we are doing to bring real change to our education system, and share some of our accomplishments.

For the past two years, we have been working with the nation’s top teachers to:

  • develop opportunities for teacher leadership
  • define career continuums that provide teachers with options to advance in the profession
  • advocate for effective policies that benefit our children and prepare them for 21st century jobs
  • provide a platform for teachers’ voices on state and national levels

NNSTOY’s has also undertaken several research projects examining student learning and teacher evaluation. Finally, we work closely with policymakers to strengthen teaching and learning for all children.

I’d like to ask for your support to continue these critical programs. Now, more than ever, we need to involve teachers in the decisions that affect our profession, our students, and our lives.

Please make an end of year donation to NNSTOY by clicking here. By making a donation, you will receive monthly email updates from NNSTOY on education reform, invitations to events (like our October white paper release on professionalizing teaching), special recognition at our annual conference and on our website, and more. Most importantly, you will become an inetegral part of NNSTOY and will help ensure teachers have a voice in education decisions that impact students across the country.

Please feel free to reach out to me at 609.992.5532 if you’d like to know more about our programs. Thanks again for your support and your commitment to education.
