Megan Allen


Megan M. Allen, NBCT, EdD, is the 2010 Florida Department of Education/Macy’s Teacher of the Year and a finalist for the 2010 National Teacher of the Year. She is a National Board Certified Teacher who has worked in several roles in education, including 9 years as an elementary school and special education teacher in Title 1 schools, the educator-in-residence at the University of Central Florida, a teacherpreneur in a hybrid role with the Center for Teaching Quality, and a visiting instructor in Psychology and Education and the Master of Arts in Teaching at Mount Holyoke College. She most recently served as the director of the Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA, where she envisioned, pitched, and developed two graduate level programs to support teachers across the world in their informal and formal leadership capacities.


Megan is a huge policy nerd who enjoys blogging for Education Week at An Edugeek’s Guide to K12 Practice and Policy. She has been featured in Ed Week, Talks with Teachers, Good Magazine, CNN.com, Go Teach magazine, Educational Horizons magazine, the Association for Teacher Educator (ATE) yearbook, the Phi Delta Kappa, and SmartBrief for the Accomplished Teacher and ASCD. She is also proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards and the NNSTOY Teacher Advisory Board for Teaching Partners.
