Dr. Barbara Hopkins

1988 Nebraska Teacher of the Year

Dr. Barbara Hopkins is a lifelong educator having taught in both rural, urban and penal institution schools for over 25 years in Nebraska followed by 28 years as a teacher leader, turn around school administrator, innovator, system builder and consultant  at the local and national level.

As a teacher leader she developed and directed school community partnership programs that continue to serve multiple states and historically have served over 54,000 high needs students from 3rd grade through post-secondary in multiple states. At NEA her second career focused on strategic initiatives that built systems online and provided grants to state affiliates for system building initiatives.
