AT THE CORE: Student Success, Teacher Leadership, Education Policy & Community Relationships
Annual Conference | July 9-12, 2014 | Philadelphia, PA
In 2014, the National Network of State Teachers of the Year (NNSTOY) will hold its second annual conference for educators at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Philadelphia Center City. The conference will examine what is AT THE CORE: Student Success, Teacher Leadership, Education Policy, and Community Relationships. National experts will join with State and National Teachers of the Year to focus on the four main topic areas, including:
- How we define and measure student success: what has changed and what is challenging now
- Training teacher leaders and encouraging their engagement across communities
- Policy trends and changes that impact students, teachers, and districts
- Re-defining community relationships to improve access to education
We expect nearly 250 educators to attend the conference, including many Teachers of the Year who have been recognized for their achievement in the classroom and by their districts and states. Confirmed speakers for the 2014 conference include: Rick Hess, American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Charlotte Danielson, Danielson Institute, Peter Zamora, Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), and Jane West, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE). Last year’s keynote speaker, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, will again be asked to join the conference, and other notable education leaders have also been invited to attend.

NNSTOY Conference Impact
What happens when you fill a room with teacher leaders, education advocates and policymakers?
Along with intense discussions about what is working in education and what isn’t, you will hear today’s leading voices in education highlight what is happening in our nation’s classrooms in 2014. As the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) have a greater impact on teachers and students, you also hear how the new standards are being implemented, what changes are coming, and what materials and resources are making a difference.
In 2013, more than 200 of the nation’s top educators joined NNSTOY for their first annual conference. This year, we expect even greater attendance so we have expanded the number of sessions offered and sponsorship opportunities for our partners.
Why NNSTOY
NNSTOY is the only professional association that represents the nation’s top-recognized educators. Because NNSTOY is known for its reach across the country and its connection to education leaders in the policy and advocacy arena, we provide access to a knowledgeable and energized community that is well-versed in what is happening in both the classroom and the statehouse.
